No, I’m not talking about John Cena and the Undertaker with their virtuoso acting displays witnessed on etv. I’m talking the William Webb Ellis Awards (hereafter called the Webbies) for the best performances on grass between 4 chalked lines and even some off of it!
Without further ado, herewith are the awards for players with shampoo endorsements and shiny boots, otherwise known as backline players:
The Andre Joubert “Rolls Royce” award for best fullback of 2011:
The nominees are: Israel Dagg, Frans Steyn, Ben Foden, and Kurtley Beale.
Frans Steyn had a decent year without being earth shattering. Ben Foden was one of the very few players from the queen’s country to impress in 2011. Kurtley Beale had a phenomenal year in 2010 and was just as solid for both the Waratahs as well as the Wallabies this year. However, Israel Dagg has gone from promising Highlander to impressive Crusader to world class All Black keeping out old Mils with ease.
